For adult orthopedic patients scheduled for a total joint replacement in an orthopedic clinic, what is the impact of the ERAS guidelines, compared to current practice, on anxiety over eight to ten weeks?
My short-term goal is to continue in leadership with my organization while going through a post-master certificate in the psych and mental health NP program at Chamberlain. I am looking to utilize both the DNP and PMHNP degrees to help impact a change within the mental health community. As a DNP, I will redesign the complexity of mental health and translate evidence into practice (Norman et al., 2021). This population is rapidly growing without any assistance. Changing the way healthcare views and treats this underserved population is needed on many levels and I plan on being a part of this change. Involving myself in policy change within the government is a way I hope to change the stigma placed on many. The stigma in itself prevents patient care, but advocacy on all levels can help conquer it (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration [SAMHSA], 2017, as cited in Falk & Taylor-Schiller, 2019).
